Lang Lang Helps With Relief Efforts in China

In wake of the recent tragedy that has occurred in the southwestern province of Sichuan, China, Lang Lang has been participating in events that have contributed over 200 million RMB (over 3.1 million USD) total in aid for the region devastated by the 8.0 magnitude earthquake on May 12, 2008 that ended the lives of nearly 70,000 people. We would like to express our deepest condolences and our hearts go out to those affected by this misfortune. In addition, this April has been a month of several milestones for Lang Lang. Among them, the Chinese language version of his autobiography called "Journey of a Thousand Miles: My Story" was published at the beginning of this month, the autobiography's U.S. release will be available to English-speakers on July 15. Lang Lang Joins Philadelphia Orchestra in Earthquake Relief Concert

Lang Lang will perform with the legendary Philadelphia Orchestra for a performance that marks the 35th anniversary of when the Philly Orchestra made history by becoming the first American orchestra to tour the People's Republic of China. In response to the devastating calamity that occurred in China in mid-May, the original broadcast fee will be waived so that the performance will be broadcast live to people all across China for free in an effort to encourage them to call in and donate towards earthquake relief. This epic concert will take place in Beijing's Min Zu Theater, the original venue that they played in 35 years ago. They will perform "Yellow River Concerto" at the Gala concert and "Grieg: Piano Concerto" for the remaining concerts along with "Beethoven: Overture to Egmont", "Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6" and "Beethoven: Symphony No. 6". The China portion of the Philadelphia Orchestra Tour will take place from June 1, 2008 to June 9. Lang Lang will perform in Beijing on June 3, in Guangzhou on June 6, and in Shanghai June 7 with the orchestra.

Lang Lang Teams Up with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra for a Night of Music and... Kung Fu?

In early April, Lang Lang performed a martial arts-inspired concerto at the nearly full Avery Fisher Hall with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Lang Lang combined his exceptional musical talents with Chinese martial arts, using skillful chops and punches to strike piano chords composed by the famous Tan Dun. Tan Dun, who also composed the film score for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, said that Lang Lang "embodies the qualities of a martial arts master in his playing". The performance was highly acclaimed and well-enjoyed.

ZDF Appoints Lang Lang Cultural Ambassador for Olympics

Lang Lang is working with ZDF on filming 8 TV-episodes / reports as a cultural ambassador for China! The episodes will feature Lang Lang in this exciting role showing the ZDF viewers during the Olympics, Chinese cultural highlights. The episodes will include a special recorded theme song by top selling German music producer Schiller, which Lang Lang is featured on! The song will be played everyday on ZDF and will be used in Lang Lang's ZDF segments and also other Olympic segments.

Sony Corporation signs sponsorship with Lang Lang

Sony Corporation today announced that it has signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with world renowned classical pianist Lang Lang. Through this relationship, which officially begins on April 1, 2008, Lang Lang will appear in Sony events and campaigns and use the company products to enhance and promote the Sony brand throughout the world, with a particular focus on China, his home country. 20 City North American Tour underway

Lang Lang recently kicked off a 15 city North American tour in Toronto which took him from one major concert hall to the next, straight across the United States. The Toronto Star said of Lang Lang's opening performance: Lang Lang's dazzling exertions on the keyboard are repaid in adoring ovations, shouts of praise and extravagant bouquets of flowers.
