New Blog From Lang Lang

My whole body was on fire tonight when I performed for the 60th anniversary of motherland's birthday. I felt even more proud when I witness the grand, spectacular Tiananmen Square. I hope my music will bring more glory to my motherland and look forward to sending my blessings again with my performance when the 100th anniversary of founding of motherland comes.

Your feelings about China's 60th Anniversary
Dear Lang Lang,
I'm sure you are proud to be Chinese----it is, after all, a very very incredible and influential country. You are a fantastic pianist, truly phenomenal. I visited China in 1984 and 1985. Back in those days, a normal Chinese citizen was not allowed to enter the big international hotels, only the party cadres could do that. The people in the countryside were so poor . . . I remember going to a cloisonne factory in the outskirts of Beijing and what I saw there will forever stay in my memory. I'm not sure how much has changed for the better in China, but I suppose there is a lot more affluence now than before. However, I have a problem with you celebrating what is considered Communism in its most manifest form. What happened in Tiananmen Square in 1989 was a bloodbath instigated by the Chinese government. Innocent lives were taken and for what reason? A democratic uprising---the people had had enough of living under the horrible conditions that the Communist party forced on them. The Communist Revolution of 1949 was probably the beginning of the worst instance of genocide in our modern history. I realize that it's in the past but please---remember those lives struck down, remember what your parents went through, too--when your father wasn't allowed to live as he pleased. You probably cannot say much against China, since it is your homeland, and I know no country on Earth is perfect, we have all gone through our revolutions. I do hope that some day there is true freedom in China, that Communism will be banished, and the people will come to know what real freedom is like, also for people to worship as they please without being arrested for having house churches.
60 years for the "motherland"
LangLang, you're a swell fellow, but......well, I suppose that you have to say all those nice things about the motherland. but tiananmen square is grand, spectacular???????? was 4 June 1989 grand and spectacular?????? some of us can never forget, nor should we. some folks need a history lesson i suppose. until China grants religious and human rights to its citizens, it will still be in the dark ages, no matter how many talented people it produces.
